About the Council

The Deans’ Council of Pioneer American University is a key academic leadership body that brings together the Deans of the University’s colleges and major academic units. The Council works closely with the President and senior academic leadership to strengthen academic quality, coordinate institutional priorities, and support the University’s strategic development.

The Council provides a forum for collaboration, academic planning, and discussion of matters that affect the University’s colleges, programs, faculty, and students. Through shared expertise and coordinated decision-making, the Deans’ Council contributes to maintaining high academic standards across the University.

Responsibilities of the Deans’ Council

The Deans’ Council is responsible for:

  • Coordinating academic policies and priorities across the University’s colleges.
  • Reviewing and supporting the development of academic programs and curricula.
  • Promoting academic quality and continuous improvement.
  • Discussing matters related to faculty development, teaching, and academic standards.
  • Supporting research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Reviewing proposals for new academic programs, departments, and academic initiatives.
  • Promoting cooperation and knowledge-sharing among colleges and academic units.
  • Supporting student success, academic advising, and educational excellence.
  • Reviewing academic performance and identifying opportunities for institutional improvement.
  • Advising senior University leadership on major academic matters.
  • Supporting the implementation of the University’s academic strategy and institutional goals.
  • Encouraging collaboration with external academic and professional institutions.

Council Membership

The Deans’ Council may include:

  • University President or designated representative
  • Vice President for Academic Affairs
  • Deans of Colleges
  • Deans of Graduate and Professional Programs
  • Directors of Major Academic Centers
  • Other academic leaders appointed by the University

Academic Leadership

The Deans’ Council plays an important role in connecting the University’s academic leadership with its colleges, departments, faculty, and students. By promoting collaboration and shared responsibility, the Council helps ensure consistency in academic standards while allowing each college to develop its unique strengths and programs.
